[Domestic Iron Ore Brief Review: Iron Ore Concentrate Prices in the Tangshan Region May Edge Lower] Iron ore concentrate prices in the Tangshan region edged lower, with the current delivery-to-factory price, tax included, for 66% grade iron ore concentrates (dry basis) at 1,010-1,010

[SMM Daily Review of Domestic Iron Ore]
Prices for 66% grade iron ore concentrates (dry basis, tax included, delivery to factory) in the Tangshan area dipped slightly, currently at 1,010-1,015 yuan/mt. Local supplies of iron ore concentrates remain tight; however, prices in surrounding areas continued to decline. Two major steel mills in Qian'an successively lowered their purchase prices, and buyers were also reluctant to purchase. With both supply and demand weak, market activity was muted. Steel mills are currently facing severe profit declines, compounded by environmental protection-driven production restrictions, with some blast furnaces at individual mills being banked, further weakening support for iron ore concentrate demand. Consequently, local iron ore concentrate prices experienced a slight decrease. Looking ahead to next week, considering the current weak trend in imported ore prices, local iron ore concentrate prices are expected to remain in the doldrums. [SMM Steel]

[SMM Iron & Steel] India Records 7.7% Growth in Steel Output Amid Global Decline
The World Steel Association reported on March 25, 2026, that while global crude steel production fell by 2.2% in February, India’s production surged by 7.7% year-on-year to reach 13.6 million tonnes. This growth is driven by the government's aggressive infrastructure spending and the "Make in India" initiative, which has bolstered domestic steel consumption. The increase in Indian output helps offset production declines in Russia and South America, as the country moves toward its national goal of 300 million tonnes of annual capacity by 2030.

[SMM Iron & Steel] European Commission Launches Investigation into Grain-Oriented Electrical Steel Imports
The European Commission (EC) officially launched an investigation on March 30, 2026, into imports of grain-oriented electrical steel (GOES) from several non-EU countries. GOES is a critical high-value component used in the manufacturing of power transformers and electrical equipment essential for the continent's energy transition. The investigation aims to determine whether imported products are being sold at unfairly low prices that damage European domestic producers and follows a broader trend of increased trade defense measures as the EU implements the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) this year.
